About Me

Full-stack and backend engineer working remotely. I build FastAPI services, data pipelines, and LLM-backed features, and I care most about systems that stay reliable in production.

Hi, I'm Danylo Boleyko, a full-stack and backend engineer working remotely with distributed teams. For the past several years I've been building production web applications and data-intensive services with Vue/Nuxt, FastAPI, and Python. What I care about there is that the architecture stays legible and that performance and cost numbers move in the right direction.

I started on the front end and later finished a degree in software engineering. Somewhere along the way I drifted deeper into the stack: APIs, orchestration with Prefect and Airflow, databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse), and LLM features like summaries, Q&A, and sentiment analysis. I never dropped the front end, and I think the two halves improve each other. Knowing what a request costs changes how you design the screen that fires it.

How I work

I want systems I can explain out loud and watch while they run. In practice that means:

  • APIs that are clean and documented, because I will forget how they work
  • pipelines with retries and monitoring, and some idea of what a single run costs
  • code that stays simple and testable long after I've stopped remembering it
  • AI taking over the repetitive parts

A FastAPI service, a Vue/Nuxt front end, a Prefect flow: the goal is the same. Easy to reason about, and boring in production.

What I like building

The work I enjoy most involves large volumes of data and automation. Turning a noisy, unpredictable process into a pipeline where every step is visible is the part of this job I'd probably do for free. LLMs get interesting to me when they take real work off someone's plate. Plenty of what ships with them doesn't.

I'm always picking up something new: patterns in backend architecture, better ways to structure front-end state and components, cheaper ways to move data around.

Away from the keyboard

I like getting to new places. The rest of the time I'm reading about systems design and data engineering, or building side projects that mix automation and APIs with whatever AI idea I want to try out.

My projects are here if you want to see the work. If you have something you want built, get in touch.
